Todays Laugh,
Taking Up a Collection for the President
A lobbyist, on his way home from work in Washington, D.C., came to a dead halt in traffic and thought to himself, "Wow, this seems worse than usual."
He noticed a police officer walking between the lines of stopped cars, so he rolled down his window and asked, "Officer, what's the hold-up?"
The officer replied, "The President is depressed, so he stopped his motorcade and is threatening to douse himself with gasoline and set himself on fire. He says no one believes his stories about why we went to war in Iraq, or the connection between Saddam and al-Qaeda, or that his tax cuts will help anyone except his wealthy friends; the press called him on the lie about Iraq trying to buy uranium from Niger, and now Campbell Brown is threatening to sue him for a sexual innuendo he made at a recent press conference. So we're taking up a collection for him."
The lobbyist asks, "How much have you got so far?"
The officer replies, "About 14 gallons, but a lot of folks are still siphoning.

Those guardsmen were forced to retreat.

However, no Guardsmen were injured in the incident. The Border Patrol says the incident occurred somewhere along the 120 mile section of the border between Nogales and Lukeville. The area is known as a drug corridor. Last year, 124-thousand pounds of illegal drugs were confiscated in this area. The Border patrol says the attackers quickly retreated back into Mexico.
What needs to be done is anti-personel mines!!

« Saddam's demise Main Our view on religious diversity: Ugly voices tarnish debut of Congress' first Muslim »
Opposing view: Save Judeo-Christian values
Immigration leaves USA vulnerable to Muslim extremists’ infiltration.
By Virgil Goode
A letter I sent in early December was written in response to hundreds of e-mails from constituents upset about Rep.-elect Keith Ellison's decision to use the Quran in connection with his congressional swearing-in. Their communications followed media reports that Ellison, a Minnesota Democrat, had said that he would swear on the Quran. He repeated that at a gathering of Muslims in Detroit on Dec. 26.
My letter did not call for a religious test for prospective members of Congress, as some have charged. Americans have the right to elect any person of their choosing to represent them. I indicated to my constituents that I did not subscribe to the Quran in any way, and I intended to use the Bible in connection with my swearing-in. I also stated that the Ten Commandments and "In God We Trust" are on the wall of my office, and I have no intention of displaying the Quran in my office. That is my choice, and I stand by my position and do not apologize for it.
My letter also stated, "If American citizens don't wake up and adopt the Virgil Goode position on immigration there will likely be many more Muslims elected to office and demanding the use of the Quran."
Immigration is arguably the most important issue facing the country today. At least 12 million immigrants are here illegally. And diversity visas, a program initiated in 1990 to grant visas to people from countries that had low U.S. immigration at that time, are bringing in 50,000 a year from various parts of the world, including the Middle East.
Let us remember that we were not attacked by a nation on 9/11; we were attacked by extremists who acted in the name of the Islamic religion. I believe that if we do not stop illegal immigration totally, reduce legal immigration and end diversity visas, we are leaving ourselves vulnerable to infiltration by those who want to mold the United States into the image of their religion, rather than working within the Judeo-Christian principles that have made us a beacon for freedom-loving persons around the world.
Rep. Virgil Goode is a Republican from Virginia's 5th congressional district

I rarely agree with Republican positions but agree mostly with this guy.
Our immigration policies are far too lenient. We allow all the muslims to come in to the country on visas etc and how do you tell who is a terroist or will become one. I have just finished reading Lawrence Wrights book " The Looming Tower" Al-Qaeda and the road to 9/11. He states that most of the terrorist in that organization are alienated from their native countries and not accepted total in thier new country. So they lose their identity and Islam becomes not just a religeon but an identity as well.
That could easily happen here to the muslims living here and not being accepted by Americans and no longer Saudis, Egyptians, Yemenies etc. so they are just muslims and open for recruiting by terrorist groups. I have since 9/11 wondered why there have not been any suicide bombers, or bombs planted here. But it wil happen.
The Mosques going up all over this country( one is going up as I write in a nearby town of Nyack
New York) teach not only rote learning of the Koran but hate for Americans and the American way of life. Our Trojan Horse is a Muslim one at out gates now!
Bush's War has given Osama bin Laden just what he wanted as I will show from excerpts from the above Wright book.
" The strike on the Cole( USN destroyer) had been a great victory for bin Laden. But there was no American response.Bin Laden was angry and disappointed. He hoped to lure America into the same trap the Soviets had fallen into:Afghanistan. His strategy was to continually attack until the US forces invaded ; then the mujahideen would swoop upon them and bleed them until the entire American empire fell from it's wounds. It had happened to Great Britain and to the Soviet Union. He was certain it would happen to America. The declaration of war,the strike on the American embassies and now the bombing of the Cole had been inadequate, however to provoke massive retaliation. He would have to create an irresitable outrage. 9/11
So Bush responded not just in Afgahnistan, ( which I thought was the the right action, but in Iraq and none can deny that Iraq War is bleeding us of lives and money. And is the major recruitement opportunity for Al-Qaeda.

Mcain- Lieberman
Yes to the Surge? Or No? Or, okay, escalation. Have an opinion on this one? As we mentioned a while back, Sens. McCain and Lieberman are heading across town to the American Enterprise Institute on Friday to roll out their 'surge' plan to send a few tens of thousands more troops to Baghdad to crush the Mahdi Army. Make no mistake: this event is the official 'surge' roll-out.
Now it turns out that MoveOn is sponsoring a protest at the event at noon on Friday.
Now, I've seen protests outside AEI before. So if experience is any guide, they'll probably have a few goons on loan from Ahmed Chalabi or someone like that to manhandle anyone who actually tries to make it in as a member of the public or just toss them out the closest window. So this will probably just be a down on the sidewalk outside the building. But you'll get to see all the key regime changers and probably Joe and McCain and all the other PNAC folks. So if you're going to be in DC, stop by. It's right near the corner of 17th & M.
At least if this is a topic that matters to you.
